Steve Jones, a co-founding member of the RHM Board of Directors, has been married to Gwen since 1979, and they have three beautiful daughters, Melissa, Molly, and Sarah. Gwen, Molly and Sarah have been to Romania several times as part of the summer mission team. He has been employed by Duke-Energy in Cincinnati since 1975.
He enjoys actively participating in family activities, reading, Bible study, and sports. He is involved in the youth work of Faith Church, and coached his daughters' basketball, soccer and softball teams for years.
Steve came to faith in Jesus Christ many years ago, but in 1992, devoted his life fully to Him at an Emmaus Walk for men. At that time, he began to study God's Word seriously, to make Christian fellowship and prayer a major part of his life, and to seek a closer relationship with the Lord Isus (Jesus in Romanian). His main goals in life are to leave a legacy of God's love in action for his daughters, one that comes genuinely from and through Christ Jesus, so that they will be prepared to pass it on to their children. He wants to leave that same legacy for the children and families in Romania. Sharing Romanian ministry experiences with his daughters has been one that most fathers do not get to have. The emotional closeness between them has deepened because of them.
Through RHM, he has opportunities to help people far away who are so much less fortunate than he is, and who receive very little help. He prays that God will use the times he has with them to draw them near to Himself. Steve’s joy and wit generates laughter and fun through his music and sharing.
“They have shared out of their poverty. Their eyes and faces reveal how they love and appreciate us, as well as one another. These families have shown more of what the love of God really means than nearly anyone I have known.”
One of Steve's greatest drives is to help complete the RHM project of building the much-needed Day Center for disabled people. “Ultimately, this mission represents the cry of God's heart, and it has become a calling in my life.”
